May 1, 2016: CUF, best company in the South region

On the occasion of the 130th edition of Labour Day, on  May 1st, 2016, Cameroon United Forests received in Ebolowa from the hands of the Governor of the South Region, Mr. Félix Nguele Nguele, the award for the best company in the region, “for being particularly distinguished for its civic commitment to the promotion of decent work”.

This distinction, awarded one year after the award for the best job insertion in the south region, demonstrates that Cameroon United Forests has adopted the motto of Labour Day 2016: “Social Responsibility of Companies and Unions for Decent Work”. Socio-professional integration of young people in Cameroon, compliance with the regulations in force on social security, improvement of general working conditions, of the health and safety at work of its employees in the various sites of its operations in the South Region, the CUF accumulates as many good points as years

On the employees’ side, this May 1st 2016 also had a special resonance with the presentation of the Gold, Silver and Vermeil Work Medals of Honour to 6 of them. A distinction received by the recipients with feelings of joy, pride, enthusiasm, but also a desire to progress ever more in work.

As every year, the 1st of May was marked by a large parade on the Ebolowa festive square. In green or orange Personal Protective Equipment, safety helmets under the right arm, in green polo or white T-shirt with the colors of the CUF, the workers of Ebolowa and Avelezok had their 250 pairs of shoes hammered in unison. With 5 squares of more than 50 employees, the CUF was indeed at the heart of this 1st of May celebration.
